I brought a lifetime of learning about and loving food to my recent journey with breast cancer and now I'm inspired to share that with others.Whether faced with a similar diagnosis personally, supporting a loved one or simply looking for more nourishment, inspiration, ease, and fun in the kitchen, welcome!
Precious TimeA blog post from the depths of treatment and introspection.
Minestrone SoupA warm and nourishing soup to share with someone going through hard times.
I read a lot while I was going through treatment.
I read all sorts of genres but a handful of novels made some of the worst times bearable and even fun. I also discovered poetry in a new way. It became a lifeline, truly. And this poem was my rock. I read it every morning for weeks and weeks.
You Reading This, Be Ready
Starting here, what do you want to remember?
How sunlight creeps along a shining floor?
What scent of old wood hovers, what softened
sound from outside fills the air?
Will you ever bring a better gift for the world
than the breathing respect that you carry
wherever you go right now? Are you waiting
for time to show you some better thoughts?
When you turn around, starting here, lift this
new glimpse that you found; carry into evening
all that you want from this day. This interval you spent
reading or hearing this, keep it for life —
What can anyone give you greater than now,
starting here, right in this room, when you turn around?
