About: Pears

Pears are the state of Oregon’s official fruit and Oregon is the second largest producer of pears in the United States. There are many varieties that thrive here and you’ll likely see red and yellow Bartlett, red and yellow Anjou, Comice, Bosc and many more.


A perfectly ripe pear really needs no recipe, however they do stand up well to baking and poaching, and are delicious in salads and roasted alongside meats.


Pears also happen to be loaded with fiber, vitamin C and potassium.
